Your Story Makes a Difference

Scripture: Acts 9:32-43

Everyone has a story. We’ve all been through different things in our lives. It’s those things that tell a story and impact the people around us today. Embrace those things. Tell your story. See lives changed.

In our passage today, the people (and our lives!) are impacted by Aeneas and Tabitha’s story.

Aeneas “had been paralyzed and bedridden for eight years” (v. 33). After God healed him through Peter, “the whole population of Lydda and Sharon saw Aeneas walking around, and they turned to the Lord” (v. 35).

How can people deny the existence and power of God when someone they knew had been paralyzed for 8 years is walking around them! Many turned to the Lord. If this is our desire, to see many turn to the Lord, then continue to walk around those that need to believe. Show them the difference Jesus has made in your life. Show them that “You can walk,” and many will believe.

Tabitha was known for “always doing kind things for others and helping the poor” (v. 36). When Peter arrived to raise her from the dead, “the room was filled with widows who were weeping and showing him the coats and other clothes [Tabitha] had made for them” (v. 39). These women were so impacted by Tabitha that they were mourning her death and couldn’t help but show off the clothes Tabitha had made for them. Tabitha’s kindness and help for the poor made a big difference in so many people’s lives. But as a result of this whole episode “the news spread through the whole town, and many believed in the Lord” (v. 42). No only had so many people been impacted through her life, now God was using Tabitha to get people to believe in Him through her death and healing.

Aeneas was paralyzed and now he could walk. Tabitha was dead and now she was alive. Because of these people’s stories, many people believed in Jesus. What has happened to you? How has God worked in your life? Whether you consider your story to have the potential to make a big impact or small impact, every life changed by Jesus can make a HUGE impact.
